Publishing your knowledge base to the Members Portal

Your members portal can host its own self-service knowledge base — the same help articles you write once, surfaced right inside the portal your customers sign in to. On the Publishing - Members Portal tab you can style that knowledge base so it matches your brand, then publish it instantly. This guide shows you how.

How to style and publish your knowledge base to the members portal

Members-portal styling lives in Knowledge Base → Settings, on the Publishing - Members Portal tab. Here's the quickest path, start to finish.

1. Open the Publishing - Members Portal tab

From the dashboard, open Knowledge Base in the left-hand menu, go to Settings, and choose the Publishing - Members Portal tab. This is a focused styling surface for the knowledge base your members see — and a live preview on the right updates as you make changes.

2. Set the container background

Under Inline appearance, set the Container background with the color picker or by typing a 6-digit hex value (for example #0E7490). This is the backdrop your help center sits on inside the portal, so pick a color that fits your brand.

3. Customize the header text

In the Text group, set the Header title — the welcome line at the top of your help center (the default is "How can we help?"). You can also tailor the header subtitle, the search field placeholder, and the "show all categories" text to match how your customers speak.

4. Add a support area

Turn on the Bottom support area to give members a clear way to reach you when an article doesn't answer their question. Set a heading and subtext, and add a contact button with its own label, link, colors, and icon.

5. Save your changes

Click Save changes. Unlike some settings, this surface saves manually — so your styling only goes live once you save it. The moment you do, members see the updated knowledge base on their next visit; there's nothing for them to do.

…and your styled knowledge base is right there inside the portal — members can browse the category cards, open any article, and leave feedback with the built-in "Was this article helpful?" prompt.

Good to know

  • One library, many surfaces: The members-portal knowledge base draws from the same articles and categories as your hosted help center and embedded widgets — write once, surface everywhere.
  • Saves are manual here: Changes on this tab apply only when you click Save changes, so you can style freely and publish when you're ready.
  • Instant for members: Once saved, the new styling is live for your customers on their next portal visit — no publish job to wait on.
  • Reset anytime: Use Reset to defaults on the tab to return the styling to its out-of-the-box look.
