CornerSpot's AI live chat agent answers your visitors first, drafts replies for your team, and covers you after hours, handing off to a human whenever confidence drops or a visitor asks. This guide walks through setting it up on the AI & Automation tab of your Live Chat settings.
How to set up the AI live chat agent in CornerSpot
Open Live Chat Settings → AI & Automation at /dashboard/chat/settings/ai. Every account includes 1,000,000 AI credits free each month, shared across all the assistant features, and the card at the top shows how many credits are left and where they went.

1. Turn on the AI agent
On the AI Agent card, flip the switch to activate the agent. Its status changes from Paused to Active, and it starts answering new conversations.

2. Open the configuration
Click Configure to open the settings drawer, where you shape how the agent talks and behaves.

3. Set a name and persona
Give your agent a Display name that visitors will see, and pick a Persona & tone: Friendly, Professional, or Concise. The persona shapes how every reply reads.

4. Add guiding instructions and an opening message
Use Guiding instructions (the system prompt) to set the agent's tone, boundaries, and what it may or may not say. The Opening message is the first thing visitors see when they start a chat.

5. Choose when it replies
Under When your agent replies, choose 24/7, When no agent is online, or During specific hours (which reveals a weekly schedule). This controls when the agent answers new chats.

6. Set the handoff threshold
Drag the Hand off to a human below slider to set the confidence level where the agent should bring in a teammate. A higher threshold hands off sooner, which is safer but uses more human agent time.

7. Save your changes
Click Save changes in the drawer to apply your configuration. The AI Agent card updates to reflect the new settings.

8. Turn on sentiment, summaries, and translation
Back on the tab, switch on the extra AI features as you need them: Sentiment analysis (how each chat is trending), Conversation summaries (a recap when a chat closes), and Auto-translation (translate messages both ways). Each shows its approximate credit cost.

9. Connect MCP tools
In Model Context Protocol tools, give the agent extra read-only tools. Switch on a Built-in tool like My Products and Services so it can answer from your real products and pricing, or click Add server to connect an external MCP server.

Where the AI agent runs
Once it's active, the AI agent works in every conversation on every site that embeds your chat widget — your CornerSpot website, the Members Portal, and any external site running the embed. You can pause it, reconfigure it, or hand any conversation to a human at any time. Everything you set here is shared across the monthly AI credit allotment shown at the top of the tab.
