How to set up reusable tax rates and discounts for subscriptions in CornerSpot

Tax rates and discounts in Cornerspot are reusable catalog entries your subscriptions, products, and invoices all draw from. You define them once in your billing settings, mark them active, and they become available in the + Add tax rate and + Add discount pickers whenever you build a subscription. This guide shows you how to set them up.

Where tax rates and discounts live

Both catalogs live in Settings → Taxes & Discounts. That page has two tiles — Tax Rates and Discounts — each opening its own catalog.

How to create a tax rate

1. Open the Tax Rates catalog

From Taxes & Discounts, open Tax Rates. The catalog lists your existing rates with a New Tax Rate button in the top-right corner.

Using them on subscriptions

  • On the subscription form: active tax rates and discounts appear in the + Add tax rate and + Add discount pickers — both at the line-item level and as subscription-level taxes and discounts.
  • Product defaults: attaching default tax rates and discounts to a product means they pre-fill on new line items, saving you a step.
  • Snapshots at creation: a subscription snapshots the taxes and discounts you choose when it's created, so later edits to the catalog don't retroactively change existing subscriptions.

Tips

  • Mark an entry Active to make it selectable; inactive entries stay in the catalog but won't appear in the pickers.
  • Use clear, specific names (e.g. the region or the offer) so the right rate or discount is easy to pick on the subscription form.
  • Because subscriptions snapshot their taxes and discounts, update the catalog freely — existing subscriptions keep the values they were created with.
