Every subscription in Cornerspot has two automation toggles that control how its invoices behave: Auto-finalize generated invoices and Auto-renew at term end. Both are on by default. This guide explains what each one does and how to set them when you create — or later edit — a subscription.
The two automation toggles
- Auto-finalize generated invoices. When this is on, each initial and recurring invoice is issued (status “open”) immediately as it's generated. When it's off, invoices are created as drafts instead, so you can review them before they go out to the customer.
- Auto-renew at term end. When this is on, a fixed-term subscription keeps issuing invoices past its term instead of moving to Expired. With it off, the subscription stops and expires once the term ends. (For an open-ended subscription — no term set — there's nothing to renew, so this has no effect.)
You'll find both toggles on the New Subscription form when you create a subscription, and you can change them later from the Edit page. Here's how.
Set the toggles while creating a subscription
1. Open the Subscriptions page
From the dashboard, select Subscriptions in the left-hand menu (under Members & Billing), then click New Subscription in the top-right corner.

2. Fill in the basics
Choose the Customer, set the billing schedule, and add at least one line item so the subscription has something to bill. (For the full create walkthrough, see the “Create a subscription” guide.)

3. Auto-renew at term end
The Auto-renew at term end toggle sits just below the schedule fields and is on by default. Leave it on to keep a fixed-term subscription billing past its term; switch it off if you want the subscription to expire automatically when the term ends.

4. Auto-finalize generated invoices
The Auto-finalize generated invoices toggle is also on by default. Turn it off if you'd rather each invoice be created as a draft for review before it's sent — handy when you want a final check on amounts or timing.

5. Create the subscription
Click Create Subscription to save. Cornerspot opens the new subscription's detail page, where the Subscription metadata card reflects your choices: Auto-renew reads On, and Auto-finalize invoices reads Off.

Changing the toggles later
Both toggles can be changed after creation. On an active or trialing subscription, click Edit plan on the detail page to open the edit form. While the line items, taxes, and discounts are locked once a subscription exists, you can still update the Description, Term (months), Auto-renew at term end, and Auto-finalize generated invoices — then click Save Changes.
Good to know
- Drafts vs. open invoices: with auto-finalize off, generated invoices stay as drafts until you finalize them, so nothing is sent to the customer automatically.
- Auto-renew only matters with a term: it decides whether a fixed-term subscription continues or expires at term end. Open-ended subscriptions keep billing regardless.
- Where to check them: the detail page's Subscription metadata card always shows the current Auto-renew and Auto-finalize invoices settings.
