As your team grows, you'll sometimes need to adjust what a teammate can do — promoting a rep to a manager, or giving an admin full access. In Cornerspot, that's a quick change to their Role on the Team Members page. This guide shows you how, and explains the guardrails that keep your team secure.
How to change a teammate's role in Cornerspot
Changing a role is an admin action. You open the teammate's details, pick a new role, and save — the change applies immediately.
1. Open the Team Members page
From your Account Settings, open the Team Members tile (at /dashboard/settings/team-members). This lists everyone on your team along with their current role and status.

2. Open the teammate's details
Click the teammate whose access you want to change. Their detail panel slides in from the right, showing their name, email, status, and an editable Role field.

3. Choose the new role
Open the Role dropdown and pick the access level you want. A short hint under the field describes what the selected role can do:
- Rep — Read-only access to people and pipelines.
- Manager — Can edit deals, contacts, and reports.
- Admin — Full access including team and billing settings.

4. Save your changes
Click Save changes. Cornerspot applies the new role right away, and the teammate's record updates to reflect it.

5. The new role takes effect
That's it — the teammate now has the access their new role allows. The change is immediate, so the next time they sign in (or refresh), they'll see the settings and actions their role permits.

When the role field is locked
To keep your team healthy, Cornerspot prevents certain role changes. If the Role field is read-only, a hint explains why:
- The team owner cannot be demoted. The owner's role is fixed — to hand over control, transfer ownership to another admin first, which makes them the owner and you a regular admin.
- You cannot change your own role. This prevents you from accidentally locking yourself out of admin tools.
- Reactivate this teammate before changing their role. A suspended teammate's role is locked until you reactivate them.
- Reinvite this teammate to change their role. A revoked teammate has no active access, so you'll need to re-invite them before you can set a role.
Cornerspot also requires your team to always have at least one active admin, so you can't remove the last admin's access by demoting them.
Tips for managing roles
- Give people the least access they need for their work — you can always promote them later.
- Reserve Admin for people who manage the team and billing — only admins can invite teammates, change roles, manage API keys, and reach the activity log and trash.
- Use Manager for teammates who edit deals, contacts, and reports but don't need account-level settings.
