How to reorder, archive, and restore custom fields in CornerSpot

Over time your custom fields can pile up or drift out of order. Cornerspot lets you keep them tidy from the Custom Fields page: drag fields into the order you want, archive ones you no longer use, and restore them later if you change your mind. Best of all, archiving is reversible — it’s the safe way to retire a field you might want back. This guide shows you how.

Reordering, archiving, and restoring custom fields

Open Account Settings → Custom Fields (at /dashboard/settings/custom-fields). Fields for contacts and accounts are managed separately, so use the entity-type filter to switch between them.

1. Open the Custom Fields page

The list shows your custom fields with their Label, Key, Type, and whether each is required. Use the entity-type filter (Contact / Account), the status filter (Active / Archived), and the Search fields… box to find what you need.

2. Drag to reorder

Grab a field by its grip handle and drag it up or down. The order you set here controls how the fields appear on your records. Drag-to-reorder is available when the list is sorted by position with no active search — a hint reminds you if it isn’t.

3. Archive a field you no longer use

To retire a field, click its archive icon. Archiving doesn’t delete anything — it simply stops the field from appearing on records.

4. Confirm in the dialog

A dialog asks you to confirm — “It will stop appearing on records. You can restore it from the Archived view.” Click Archive and the field leaves your active list. You can archive several at once by selecting their checkboxes and using the bulk Archive action.

5. Find retired fields in the Archived view

Switch the status filter to Archived to see every field you’ve retired. Archived fields stay here until you bring them back.

6. Restore a field

Found one you want back? Click its restore icon and the field becomes active again immediately — there’s no confirmation needed, and it returns ready to use.

Why archive instead of delete?

  • It’s reversible: Archiving hides a field from records but keeps it — you can restore it anytime from the Archived view.
  • It’s the safe way to retire a field: Use it when you’re not sure you’ll need a field again, so you never lose the ability to bring it back.
  • Contacts and accounts are separate: Each entity type has its own fields, so switch the entity-type filter to manage the right set.
  • Reordering is cosmetic and safe: Changing the order only affects how fields appear — it never touches the data already stored in them.

Tips for keeping custom fields tidy

  • Put the fields you use most near the top so they’re the first thing people see on a record.
  • Sort by position and clear any search before dragging — that’s when reordering is enabled.
  • Review the Archived view occasionally; restore anything you find you need again.
