Voiding an envelope cancels a contract that's already out for signature. It immediately invalidates every recipient's signing link, moves the envelope to the terminal Voided status, and notifies recipients by email with your reason — the right choice when a contract was sent in error or has been superseded. This guide shows you how.
Voiding applies to envelopes that have already been Sent; only a manager or admin can void. (If an envelope is still a Draft and hasn't gone out, you delete it instead — see the separate guide on deleting envelopes.)
How to void a sent envelope in CornerSpot
1. Find the sent envelope
Open E-Sign from the left-hand menu to reach your envelope list at /dashboard/esign/envelopes. Locate the Sent envelope you want to cancel — you can search by subject, recipient, email, or document name to find it quickly.

2. Open the row actions menu
On that envelope's row, click the Row actions button (the three-dots icon at the far right) to open its menu.

3. Choose “Void…”
Select Void… from the menu. This option only appears for Sent envelopes — drafts show Move to trash instead.

4. Enter a reason
The Void envelope panel slides in. Type a reason for voiding — it's required, and it's included in the email recipients receive when their links are invalidated, so make it clear (for example, “Superseded by a revised contract”).

5. Confirm the void
Once you've entered a reason, the Void envelope button becomes available. Click it to confirm. CornerSpot immediately invalidates every recipient's signing link and emails them the reason.

6. The envelope is now Voided
The envelope moves to the terminal Voided status, shown by its status pill in the list. Voiding can't be undone — recipients can no longer sign, and the envelope stays in your records (and audit trail) for reference.

Voiding vs. deleting
Use the right action for where the envelope is in its lifecycle:
- Void a Sent envelope to cancel it after it's gone out — links die, recipients are notified, and it becomes Voided.
- Delete (move to trash) a Draft that never sent — it goes to your team's trash, where it can be restored.
Tips
- Write a clear reason — recipients see it, so it explains why the document was cancelled.
- Voiding is permanent: it can't be reversed. If you need a corrected version, send a fresh envelope (duplicating the original is a quick way to start).
- Only a manager or admin can void — if you don't see the option, check your role.
