How to customize your activity statuses in CornerSpot

Activity statuses are the workflow states you apply to every logged interaction in Cornerspot — calls, emails, meetings, tasks, and notes. They let your team see at a glance whether something is still open, waiting on someone, or done. This guide shows you how to create your own activity status from the Activity Statuses settings, and explains how the default, active, and seeded statuses behave.

How to create an activity status in Cornerspot

You manage activity statuses from the Activity Statuses page in your settings. Here's the quickest path, start to finish.

1. Open the Activity Statuses page

From your Account Settings, open Activity Statuses (at /dashboard/settings/activity-statuses), which defines the statuses "applied to calls, emails, meetings, tasks and notes." Every status lives here in a table, with a New Status button in the top-right corner.

2. Click “New Status”

Select New Status to open the panel. It slides in from the right so you never lose your place in the table.

3. Enter a name

Give your status a clear Name that describes where an activity stands — for example "Awaiting Follow-up" or "Scheduled". The name is required and must be unique within your team.

4. Pick a color

Choose a Color so the status is easy to spot on your activities. You can use the color swatch or type a hex value, and the preview chip at the top of the panel updates live so you can see exactly how it will look.

5. Set the Default and Active toggles

Two toggles control how the status behaves:

  • Default — The default status is assigned to activities created without an explicit status. Only one status can be the default at a time, and a default status can't be deleted until you set another as the default.
  • Active — Active statuses appear in the picker when teammates log activities. Inactive statuses are hidden from the picker but keep rendering on historical activities, so you can retire a status without rewriting the past.

You can also add an optional Description (shown in the picker dropdown) and a Position to control the order — lower numbers appear first.

6. Create the status

When everything looks right, click Create status. Cornerspot saves it and the new status appears in your list right away.

7. Your status is ready

The new status joins the table with its color chip, a Custom badge, and a Default or Active/Inactive badge. The Activities column shows how many activities currently use each status, so you can see at a glance how widely a status is applied.

Editing the statuses Cornerspot provides

Your team starts with a set of statuses seeded from the platform catalog. You can edit these just like your own — open one with the pencil icon and change its name, color, or toggles. When you do, you'll see a note: "Seeded from the platform catalog. Edits only affect this team." In other words, your changes stay yours and don't affect any other team.

Tips for managing activity statuses

  • Use Deactivate over Delete when you might want a status back — inactive statuses keep rendering on historical activities, so your past records stay intact.
  • Keep one clear default for new activities, and set another as default before you remove the current one.
  • Lean on the Activities count to spot statuses that are barely used before you tidy them up.
