How form submissions become CRM contacts in CornerSpot

A form submission is more than an entry in a list — Cornerspot turns it into a working CRM contact. When a form has Create Contact turned on, every submission is matched to a contact (or creates a new one), the answers are attached, and new submitters land as fresh leads. Here's exactly what happens.

The setting that makes it happen: Create Contact

Open a form, click Settings, and you'll find the Create Contact toggle. It's on by default, and it applies wherever the form is published. When it's on, Cornerspot creates a CRM contact for a new submitter automatically; when it's off, only the submission is recorded and no contact is created.

1. Cornerspot finds (or creates) a contact

Every submission flows into one Submissions inbox, no matter which channel it came from — your website, a shareable link, the Members portal, or an embed on an external site. Cornerspot tries to match the submitter to an existing contact by their email or phone. If a match is found, the submission is linked to that contact. If there's no match, Cornerspot creates a brand-new contact — automatically setting up an account and assigning an owner — so nothing falls through the cracks.

2. The answers are attached to the submission

Open a submission to see every answer the person gave, along with metadata like the IP address and the referring page. Standard fields — name, email, phone, job title — update the contact's built-in details. Custom fields you've marked "Make this a Contact field" are saved onto the contact's profile; any other custom answers stay with the submission only.

3. New submitters become leads in your CRM

Click a submission's contact to open their record. A contact created from a form starts with the status lead and a source of web form, so you can tell at a glance where they came from and follow up. From here it's a normal CRM contact — add it to a deal, log activities, or move it through your pipeline.

How the submission is tagged

Each submission is tagged with the channel it came from and the source page where it was filled out. That makes it easy to see which forms, pages, and campaigns are actually converting — and which leads deserve a quick reply.

Tips

  • Keep Create Contact on (in the form's Settings) so submissions feed your CRM automatically.
  • Always collect Email (or Phone) — it's the key Cornerspot uses to match submissions to existing contacts and avoid duplicates.
  • Turn on "Make this a Contact field" for custom questions whose answers you want saved to the contact's profile, not just the submission.
  • Use the lead's source and tags to prioritise follow-up — fresh web-form leads are often your warmest.
